Saturday January 10: a quick update here at noon, just got off of the trails at the high school. Both skate and classic lanes are skiing like midwinter conditions, fantastic job groomers!! A cold start this morning on what should be a great day to get out on the trails. Last night we rolled Upper Rio Grande Trail from Aspen Post Office to W/J and were able to set classic track on High School loop 30 for the first time this season! Yesterday we put a snow cat snowcat groom on Moore Loop 20 and Marolt Loop 40 (we set one classic track on Marolt and it is thin), and we groomed Aspen Golf Loop 10, Snowmass Golf Loop 60 and Owl Creek Trail from SM to W Buttermilk Road with pull behind implements. Get out and enjoy the skiing while its good ! The best skiing is on High School Loop 30 and we suggest using caution on all trails with the thin and variable snowpack. We will roll and pack at Northstar this morning with bumpy, uneven conditions expected. Check Nordic Pulse for grooming updates. The Nordic Center at the Aspen Golf Course has had to make the decision to cancel this season's Nordic Extravaganza scheduled for this Sunday but they are open from 9-5 each day and we encourage you to stop by and check out the latest gear.
